The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) is targeting an estimated RM600 million in potential investment value from the Franchise International Malaysia (FIM) 2026 exhibition, up from RM424 million recorded last year.
MFA Chairman, Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan, said the target reflects growing industry confidence and the strong track record of the annual exhibition in generating tangible business outcomes.
“The FIM was first introduced with a clear and focused objective to promote and strengthen local franchising. Over the years, however, the exhibition has grown far beyond its original scope,” he said during the official launch of FIM 2026 here today.
Radzali said FIM now stands as one of the most influential franchise platforms in the region, connecting Malaysian brands to global markets while bringing international franchise opportunities to Malaysia.
“This evolution reflects the maturity of Malaysia’s franchise ecosystem and the confidence that global industry players place in our market. FIM has become not just an exhibition, but a strategic meeting point where ideas, investments and partnerships converge,” he added.
Radzali said FIM 2026 will be held from May 21 to 23, 2026, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The exhibition spans two halls, with more than 250 booths and over 100 exhibitors from Malaysia and abroad, and is expected to attract 25,000 visitors.
To date, the event has achieved an occupancy rate of about 80 per cent, signalling strong participation from local and international industry players.
Highlighting the exhibition’s impact, Radzali said several exhibitors at previous editions recorded significant post-event expansion.
For example, US Pizza appointed 12 new franchisees, HOME Maths Therapy secured more than 10 franchisees, and Midyson expanded its presence in the Klang Valley through the opening of new outlets by its franchisees.
“These tangible outcomes clearly underscore the real and measurable business impact of this exhibition as an effective platform for franchise expansion and investment facilitation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Mohamad Alamin, in his speech at the launch, said that the franchise sector continues to serve as a pillar of economic resilience, contributing to business sustainability, job creation and stronger domestic and regional market presence.
He said the government remains committed to supporting the sector through policy facilitation, capacity-building programmes, improved access to financing and talent development, in line with the National Franchise Policy 2030 (DFN2030).
“In this regard, I look forward to seeing more franchise brands participating in FIM2026, showcasing their best and most innovative franchise packages, and further strengthening Malaysia’s position as a leading franchise hub in the region.
“I encourage you to fully leverage this platform to expand your networks, explore new markets, and forge meaningful collaborations,” he added.
