The Menu Rahmah initiative was launched at the end of January this year as an effort to help reduce the cost of living for the public.
As of yesterday, 1,152 premises was offering Menu Rahmah and 340 more will be included today with the addition of McDonald’s outlets nationwide.
Customers can choose either Chicken Burger, Bubur Ayam McD, or McEgg to go along with small Iced Lemon Tea for only RM5.
The menu is available all day.
With the inclusion of the three menus from McDonald’s, Salahuddin said the people have a variety of choices, from roti canai, nasi kandar, tomyam, and now porridge and burgers.
“At the same time this also dispels the notion that Menu Rahmah offers ‘low class’ food, or is a menu which lacks nutrients.
“In the coming weeks, we could see more big companies starting to offer Menu Rahmah,” he said, adding that the ministry will be launching the Raya Rahmah Sale in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next month.
At the event, McDonald’s also treated orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Peribadi Mulia in Kajang.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s special Ramadan menu – Chicken Foldover and Beef Foldover, will also be available beginning today.
