The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is set to host the ASEAN Franchise Convention (AFC) and Franchise International Malaysia (FIM) in May 2025, marking a significant event for the regional franchise industry.
The AFC, themed Shaping the Future of Franchising in ASEAN: Sustainability, Digitalisation, and Growth, will focus on sustainability, digitalisation, and business expansion. It aims to position Malaysia as ASEAN’s leading franchise hub and culminate with key declarations among ASEAN countries to strengthen regional collaboration.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in a speech at the Malaysia Franchise Awards Night, underscored the importance of regional cooperation to address industry challenges and opportunities.
The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA), led by Chairman Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan, is committed to advancing Malaysia’s franchise sector through strategic initiatives, including international exhibitions, trade missions, and training programmes. Datuk Dr Radzali stated, “We urge more franchise entrepreneurs to register as members to receive guidance and opportunities to succeed in the industry.”
FIM 2025, in its 32nd edition, will feature over 100 exhibitors and 250 booths, showcasing local and international franchise brands. Supported by KUSKOP and MATRADE, the event is endorsed by the World Franchise Council and the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation. Scheduled for 22–24 May 2025, it is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors and generate RM600 million in franchise sales.
MFA Secretary General Deric Yeo joined Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan at the AFC and FIM launch event in Kuala Lumpur, highlighting the significance of these programmes for industry growth and collaboration.
