ALTHOUGH the importance of exercise has caught up on many Malaysians, going to a gym could be quite intimidating but Anytime Fitness is banking on its “family-oriented” environment targeting first time goers.
“Anytime Fitness that is available around the clock is designed to target the 99% of our fellow Malaysians who are first-time gym goers.
“Through our homely and comfortable environment, we lift the intimidation factor that many have towards the gym environment.
“With our personable and friendly staff, we ensure that each member is well-acknowledged and taken care of just like a family member. Our gym locations are strategically based in the heart of the community and this in turn provides the convenience for our members to visit our gym,” Anytime Fitness Malaysia director Ali Roodgar tells StarBizWeek recently.
Although a new player in the local scene, Ali says the demand for franchising and membership has been spectacular.
“In just two years, we have opened 12 branches with an additional three branches undergoing fitting work and are due to open in the next few months. Malaysians have reacted very positively towards our community gym concept as they have been awaiting for a quality gym which provides the convenience and welcoming environment,” he says.
Going forward, Ali says they are expecting to open five to seven more outlets and hence hitting the 20 opened outlet mark by end of this year.
Elaborating on its competitive edge in terms of customer service, Ali points out that Anytime Fitness offers a personable service to its members.
“We truly believe that we are in the business of helping people achieving their health and fitness goal.
“We treat our members as family members of our own because from our experience when we change a member’s life, that member remembers us for the rest of their life.
“As a community gym, we are always in close contact with the residents living around our gym, regardless of whether they are our members. We would reach out to them to lend a helping hand to their fitness goal,” he says.
In meeting the escalating level of cost of living, Ali says Anytime Fitness members are reminded that “health is wealth”.
“Only through a healthy life can members achieve goals they have set in their life, be it financial, family or career goals.
“We also help members to join our club by offering a relatively lower membership fee compared to the existing market rate. Also we provide free passes to potential members to try our gym to see if our club would be a great fit to their need,” he says.
