Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) journalist Teng Khoon Hock won the Best Franchise Journalist award at the Malaysia Franchise Awards (MFA) 2025 held here tonight.
Teng, who is also Bernama’s correspondent in Thailand, received the award for his article titled “Malaysia
Ready To Share Franchise Industry Regulation Experience With Thailand”, which was published on July 13 last
year.
He described the recognition as deeply meaningful and said he did not expect the article to lead to an award win.
“Initially, I was simply carrying out my assignment covering the working visit of the Minister of Entrepreneur
and Cooperatives Development, while trying to identify a suitable news angle related to ASEAN,” he said when
contacted.
Teng also expressed his appreciation to Bernama and the agency’s editors for their continued trust, opportunities
and editorial freedom, which enabled him to produce impactful reports that benefit not only the community but
also the nation.
The award was presented by Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) chairman Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan, with
Teng represented by Bernama Senior Executive (Commercial Department) Nur Azyyati Ismail.
The prestigious event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Also present were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is carrying out the duties of the
Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development and Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives
Development Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
